Featured Artist: Ed Capeau

Hello Everyone!

We're here today to talk about an artist that we are an exclusive publisher for. Since we've started selling his work, he quickly became one of our top-selling artists.

Ed Capeau is a self-taught fine art painter from Brockton, Massachusetts. He has had a natural knack for art his whole life, selling his first piece of artwork at the age seven. Ed started by drawing characters of his neighbors and sold them for twenty-five cents. His motivation and support from his community helped him to realize that he wanted to be an artist.

He not only draws, but has expanded his creativity with many mediums, including painting, sculpture, and woodworking. Ed has used his artistic skills to become a faux finish artist as well.

His work has been featured in several newspapers as well as magazines and websites. Capeau’s work has been in many local cafes and business such as cafe "29 Newbury" Boston, "Cravings Cafe" Kingston as some examples, and he has appeared on CCTV (Cambridge Community Television).

Ed loves to give back to the community. He likes to surprise his fans by occasionally sending them signed reproductions of his work. Ed once said, “My biggest reward is seeing people enjoy my artwork.” He has also donated a large underwater mural to the Children’s Hospital in Boston, MA as well as donating some of his work to local charity work to help raise awareness and funding for breast cancer research, such as Lori’s Angels. He's currently working on A Bug's Life Themed Mural for Happy Tree Daycare in Warwick, Rhode Island.

Creatively, he has been involved with body painting, church restorations, clothing designs, pretty much anything artistic he can get himself into. While not trained in fine art or painting, Ed has found his own style and process. Instead of using classic paints, he enjoys using Benjamin Moore house paint. This allows him to paint on a wide variety of mediums.

He is proud to say, “I’ve created huge murals of these iconic portraits for the public to enjoy. They seem to appeal to a wide audience, and I enjoy painting them. Isn’t that the ultimate goal of an artist? To create things for people to enjoy?”

Ed's work is available here on our website, Houzz.com, Wayfair.com, Amazon, Redbubble, eBay, and many more online platforms.

Check out Ed on Instagram as well!
